Joana Matos Lima is an Associate Lawyer and has been with Abreu Advogados since 2015, working mainly on matters relating to financial and banking law.
She has been closely involved in matters related to banking law and securities law, regarding regulations, on which she has consulted a number of banking groups for several years.
In this context, she has participated in highly complex transactions, namely in the organisation of and consulting on takeover bids in a regulated market, and in the organisation and structuring of share issues, bonds, commercial paper and structured products, for both public and private subscription.
She held a banking position for several years, having served as legal advisor to Grupo Finibanco, Grupo Montepio, Banco Rural Europa and Banco Fiduciário Internacional in Cabo Verde. She was also a legal advisor to Opex, a company managing the PEX market.
She is the author of “Código de Valores Mobiliários Anotado” [“The Securities Code Annotated”], Editor Quid Juris, of “Modelos de atas Comerciais” [“Commercial Minutes Templates”] and participated in the second edition of the “Manual de Contratos de Direito Bancário e Financeiro – Regime Legal, Minutas, Fiscalidade e Jurisprudência” [“Manual on Banking and Financing Agreements – Legal Regime, Drafts, Taxation and Jurisprudence”], Editora Quid Juris.
