Joana de Almeida Ferreira is an Associate Lawyer and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2013, where she completed her traineeship. Her areas of practice cover all aspects of labour law, particularly advising clients on an ongoing basis and conducting disciplinary proceedings.

She is regularly involved in corporate restructuring operations involving labour issues dealt with through negotiation or collective redundancy.

She has worked on matters related to acquisitions as they relate to labour and human resources. She provides advice that cuts across various business sectors, but focuses specifically on the healthcare, distribution and services sectors, where she has been involved in some of the largest multinational group restructures in Portugal.  


Advising an association, focusing specifically on labour issues, including the termination of a number of employment contracts types.

Advising a multinational company in the healthcare sector on human resources matters, including advice on procedures regarding various acquisitions undertaken by the group.

Advising a multinational company in the healthcare sector on the integration of the company it had acquired.

Advising various national and international companies at the time of their incorporation, or when winding up or closing their branches or subsidiaries in Portugal and carrying out the appropriate procedures for terminating employment contracts.

Advising a multinational company in the healthcare sector on the integration process of employees from various hospitals.

Advising a Portuguese group in the optical sector by providing daily support on labour and human resources matters, including legal proceedings.
