The Portuguese Bar Association honors César Bessa Monteiro, Pedro Pais de Almeida e Paulo Gouveia e Silva

Abreu Advogados is pleased to note that three of its Attorneys have been honored by the Portuguese Bar Association with the award of a 50 year commemorating medal to Of-counsel César Bessa Monteiro and two medals of honor to Partner Pedro Pais de Almeida and Of-counsel Paulo Gouveia e Silva. This commemoration took place on 19th May at the São Francisco Convent in Santarém during the celebration of the “Lawyer’s Day” by the Bar Association.

César Bessa Monteiro was distinguished for his achievements during 50 years of a career as a Lawyer. Cesar has been the founding partner of several Law Firms, Vice-President of the Lisbon Council of the Portuguese Bar Association (1984-1986 e 1993-1995) and a Partner of Abreu Advogados. He is currently the Vice-President of the General Assembly of the Portuguese Delegation of the ICC and a member in several associations. He became an Of-counsel to Abreu Advogados in 2017 and remains a practicing Lawyer in the field of Intellectual Property and Information Technology.

Pedro Pais de Almeida and Paulo Gouveia e Silva were awarded the Medal of Honor for their contribution to the practice of the Law, the dignity of the legal profession and the prestige of the Portuguese Bar Association.

Pedro Pais de Almeida is a Partner of Abreu Advogados since 2008 and is currently the past-President of UIA (Union Internationale des Avocats), having acted as President during the 2017/2018 term. He is also the President of the Fiscal Board and member of the Strategic Council of the “Instituto de Empreendedorismo Social” since July 2007. Pedro practices in the areas of Commercial Law, Banking and Finance Law, Tax Law and Real Estate Law.

Paulo Gouveia e Silva was a partner in Abreu Advogados since 2009, having become a member of its Advisory Board in 2014. He was a member of Eurojuris Portugal – part of  Eurojuris International – and of UIA (Union Internationale des Avocats). He was a founding partner of SMS Advogados, a Madeira law Firm that was integrated into Abreu Advogados in 2009. Paulo continues to practice in the areas of Litigation and Arbitration, Tax Law and Real Estate Law.

The Medal of Honor is an award aimed at distinguinshing Lawyers who, for their merits and ethics, have contributed to the dignity and prestige of the Portuguese Bar Association.
