Abreu Advogados is a participant of Target Gender Equality from the United Nations Global Compact
Abreu Advogados joined the United Nations Global Compact: Target Gender Equality programme. The programme is a gender equality accelerator programme for participating companies of the UN Global Compact.
It supports companies engaged with the UN Global Compact in setting and reaching ambitious corporate targets for women’s representation and leadership, in all levels and areas.
“We support Gender Equality at Abreu Advogados, as diversity allows the exchange of ideas, which is paramount for our development and creativity. We fully believe in the participation, recognition and empowerment of men and women in all social, political, economic, labour, personal and family areas.
In a society where there are still specific jobs for women and specific jobs for men, we recognise the importance of the values underlying the non-discrimination between women and men. And this is how we have made our way through history. We were the first law firm in Portugal with female Managing Partner and Chairman of the Board of Directors. Currently, 40% of our managers are women.
By joining Target Gender Equality we wish to continue on this path, strengthening our commitment and seeking to do more for SDG 5 | Target 5 (Sustainable Development Goals – Target 5: Gender Equality), which requires equal representation, participation and leadership in organisations worldwide: ensuring full and effective participation of women and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life”, Duarte de Athayde, Managing Partner Abreu Advogados.
