Abreu Advogados advises Greenyard Group in the sale of its stake in Greenyard Logistics Portugal

Abreu Advogados advised Greenyard Group [Holding] in the sale of its stake in Greenyard Logistics Portugal, through a management buyout (MBO). The Portuguese law firm was responsible for the local assistance of the operation on the side of the sellers, managed internationally by the Belgian law firm, Monard Law.

The operation was coordinated by Hugo Teixeira, professional partner at Abreu Advogados, with the support of José Carlos Vasconcelos and Assunção Vassalo, respectively professional partner and associate, in all aspects regarding corporate law and M&A. Lawyers Alexandra Courela, partner, assisted in relation to tax law matters, and Patrícia Viana, partner, and Ana Flor, professional partner, in matters of real estate law.

The MBO transaction, concluded at the end of June, resulted in the sale of Greenyard Logistics Portugal to the current management team, composed by Vitor Figueiredo and Manuel Rodriguez, who maintain their previous positions, respectively, as Administrator and Head of Operations. For this purchase they were assisted by Vallis Capital Partners, an independent private equity fund and investment management company.

Greenyard, present in Portugal since 2001, specialises in providing logistical services and in transporting food products, particularly perishable food products, as well as in importing and in the commercialisation of fruits and vegetables. Geographically located in the center of the country Greenyard Logistics Portugal, owner of a 17,000 sqm logistics platform, provides all the environmental conditions and temperature requisites (ranging between -25ºC and +18ºC), in a single location supported by cross docking hubs. Currently, Greenyard Logistics Portugal has over 280 employees.
